Press Play, then click the battle so the keyboard reaches it. The author's instructions are the whole control list:

  • Arrow keys navigate menus and move the SOUL.
  • Z confirms and fires.
  • X cancels, skips typing, and slows the SOUL.
  • C mashes dialogue.
  • ENTER plus Z turns on ENRAGED mode.
  • When every party member's HP hits 0, you lose.

The opening puts Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on the minecart tracks, with Spamton NEO hung on green wires across from them. The battle line on Susie's turn reads "It's time to be a BIG SHOT?"

Where this boss is in DELTARUNE

Spamton NEO is the Chapter 2 secret boss. In his shop at the Trash Zone, Kris takes a deal, brings him an EmptyDisk from the basement of Queen's Mansion, and loads that disk into the machine. He transforms, sees the green wires holding the new body, and attacks to take Kris's SOUL. Susie knocks him back with Rude Buster, and the party fights him from the carts.

A peaceful clear, by snapping the wires, turns him into Dealmaker. A violent clear turns him into PuppetScarf. Either way the party also receives a Shadow Crystal. The Weird Route is a different encounter after Queen: Kris is alone, Spamton NEO raises his defense, and Noelle freezes him.

How the attacks come

The Deltarune Wiki lists a fixed order before his HP reaches 30% or his MERCY reaches 70%: flying heads, spam mail, the chained heart, Pipis ("a call for you"), gripping phones, the eyes-nose-mouth face, then the heart attack again. If he is still above both thresholds he loops harder versions of flying heads, the face, phones, two Pipis, and faster mail.

  • Flying heads can be shot. If a head is not destroyed, it fires as it passes. Later waves come from more directions while his arm cannon fires.
  • Mail trucks drive at the SOUL with stacks of mail, heads, and sometimes bombs. The second version is faster.
  • The heart on a chain swings and releases diamonds. Shooting it shortens it. Outside the Weird Route, destroying it adds 3% MERCY if he has taken no damage. If he has taken damage, it deals 3% damage instead. It cannot finish the bar or the last HP.
  • Blue Pipis bounce in. When one hits the board, tiny heads launch. Destroying a Pipis gives a little TP. The repeat fires two at once.
  • Phones grip the edges while a head shoots exploding bullets. A big shot pushes that head back. After you get hit, later phone waves move along the board.
  • Eyes, nose, and mouth sit on a separate board and can be shot apart. A big shot deals more than a normal shot. When he is enraged, big shots deal half damage to those parts.

At 30% HP or 70% MERCY he uses the faster heart, then "a call for me," which is a free turn of tiny heads hitting him, then Power of NEO. Power of NEO also starts immediately at 10% HP or 90% MERCY if it has not happened yet. The board goes dark, he inhales from the right, fires face bullets, and ends on a shot as tall as the board. Shooting his face hurries the phases. Like the heart, the end of Power of NEO adds 5% MERCY if he is undamaged on the normal route, or 5% damage otherwise, and it does not end the battle by itself.

Snap adds 2% MERCY, or 4% if the other two party members are down. SnapAll adds 7%. Supercharge costs 32% TP and speeds the big-shot charge for 20 shots. FluffyGuard costs 16% TP and puts orbiting shields around the SOUL; holding cancel stops the orbit and slows movement. On the Weird Route, where Kris fights alone, X-Slash costs 25% TP and FriedPipis costs 32% TP and heals Kris for 120 HP.

This project's instructions add ENRAGED mode with ENTER and Z. On the wiki, enraged attacks include a wider heart spray, the harder phone wave on the first phone turn, and weaker big shots against the face. The yellow SOUL in the screenshot below is the same mode the wiki describes: aim right, tap Z to shoot, hold Z for a big shot.

Tips from the Chapter 2 fight

  • Stay toward the left of the board on the heart attack. The wiki notes that his position makes the far left the safer side.
  • SnapAll is the large MERCY gain, at 7%. Kris and Susie can snap while Ralsei heals, or one of them can DEFEND when TP is short. DEFEND gives 16% TP in a normal battle and cuts damage taken.
  • If you want the heart and Power of NEO to add MERCY, he has to be undamaged. Any damage switches those bonuses into damage instead.
  • In DELTARUNE, pressing F1 once during the battle summons a small Spamton that heals the party for half HP. That key is part of the original fight. This page's control list from the author does not include it.
  • The other secret-boss pages here are the Jevil fight and the Chapter 3 Knight. The battle simulator is the Chapter 1 survival mode.

FAQ

What are the controls in this Spamton NEO fight simulator?

Arrow keys navigate and move the SOUL. Z confirms and fires. X cancels, skips typing, and slows the SOUL. C mashes dialogue. ENTER and Z together turn on ENRAGED mode. You lose when every party member's HP hits 0.

Why is the heart yellow?

In DELTARUNE, Spamton NEO introduces the yellow SOUL. It aims to the right. Confirm shoots, and holding confirm charges a big shot. This project's battle uses that yellow heart.

How does the Chapter 2 fight end if you spare him?

The Deltarune Wiki says snapping his wires until one remains makes him ask you to cut the last string. That peaceful clear gives Dealmaker and a Shadow Crystal. Fighting him until he falls gives PuppetScarf and a Shadow Crystal.

Is the party Kris alone?

The battle on this page shows Kris, Susie, and Ralsei. In DELTARUNE that trio is the normal-route fight in Queen's Mansion. The Weird Route fight is Kris alone, and it ends when Noelle freezes Spamton NEO.
